ABOUT

Practical leadership, one minute at a time

RoyGroundUp helps managers handle the everyday moments of leading people: the awkward one-to-one, the vague feedback, the meeting that should have been an email.

What you'll find here

  • Watch & Learn: 47 one-minute leadership lessons. Each one has a short video, the exact phrase to use, a deeper explanation of why it works, and a one-question quiz.
  • The RoyGroundUp Arcade: 9 free retro games that let you practise lessons in realistic work scenes, from triaging an inbox to spotting the quiet warning sign in a meeting.
  • Free manager tools: a one-to-one agenda builder, a feedback builder and a printable “say this, not that” sheet.
  • The manager scorecard: a two-minute check of your leadership style, with what to work on next.

How the lessons are made

Every lesson starts from a real situation managers run into, usually one that most people handle on instinct and get slightly wrong. Each one is boiled down to a single habit you can try the same day, with the words to say and the reason it works. A new lesson is published most mornings, alongside a one-minute video on YouTube.

Older lessons are reviewed and updated as the library grows, and each lesson links to related lessons and to the arcade games that practise it.

Who it's for

New managers, team leads, and anyone who has just been handed responsibility for other people. Everything on the site is free to use, and nothing requires an account.

Who's behind it

RoyGroundUp is made by Roy in Singapore, as an independent project. The content is general guidance for everyday leadership situations. It is not legal, HR, medical or other professional advice.
